Congratulations to Associate Professor Paul McGreevy who was shortlisted for the 2010 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes. Paul was a finalist for the Scientific Research that Contributes to Animal Protection, for his research into the relationship between breed standards and genetic disorders in dogs. Paul has also led initiatives such as LIDA (Listing of Inherited Disease in Animals) with the help of students and colleagues around the world, providing improved surveillance, reporting and public education about genetic disease in purebred animals and the welfare issues these disorders raise.

The release of the White Paper and the Strategic Plan follow 10 months of extensive consultation with staff and students. They set out important directions for engaged enquiry and mutual accountability for good governance which will be achieved through a range of changes including new Division and Board structure and the University Economic Model. Our Faculty’s Strategic Planning for 2011-15 progressed with a series of planning days and the draft plan is open for comment.
This month the Faculty hosted the Dean and Deputy Dean of Bogo University Veterinary School, Indonesia. Prof. Dr. Bambang Pontjo Priosoeryanto (Head of Department of Veterinary Clinic, Reproduction & Pathology) and Dr. Nastiti Kusumorini - Vice Dean. The senior academics were visiting Australia to discuss cooperation and accreditation and visit Australian veterinary schools.
