In this month's issue of Rumenations read about our best-ever annual Pet Fair, a day of diverse displays and celebration of the many rewards of pet ownership. Thank you to our sponsor Hills, supporters and volunteers for helping to make the day a great success. In September we hosted our fourth major Faculty conference for the year, a very successful Dairy Research Foundation Symposium at Camden, attended by leaders from the dairy industry, farmers and researchers from Australia and overseas. In recent week the Academic Board undertook a review of Faculty and we drafted our 2011-15 Strategic Plan. Read on for news on Ausaid Australian Leadership Award Fellowships and a report on the Partners in Veterinary Education Conference.
Our student-run VetSoc won the University of Sydney Union award for ‘Best Faculty Society’ for their rich and varied contributions to student life. Our outgoing VetSoc committee, led by Todd Dewbury, ran a diverse program of social events, student supplies, services, tutorial support and their publication “Chiron”. VetSoc is continuing our student tradition with the Camden Weekender (formally BBGROG) in October.
Our PhD Student Sebastian Bowman is seeking a place on the University Senate and would appreciate your vote.

Animalia 2009 featured a border collie with talent, a couple of cheeky cockatiels, an agility dog troupe and a splendid wedgetailed eagle. In an Orwellian twist the animals took over the University’s bastion of human intellect, the revered walls of the Quadrangle. What will happen at Animalia 2010?
